Nakamaru Yuichi

FACTS ABOUT MARU:
His nickname is "Yu", so when he went to the first Johnny's audition and Johnny-san called out: "Hey, YOU!" in English, Maru thought: "How does he know my name?!".
He also gets called "Yucchi", "Yuichi" and "Maru".
He hates being "N" in KAT-TUN because he's last in everything. He thinks people only like his beat-boxing and that apart from that people don't notice him.
KAT-TUN always mock him and say "Your wig's on wrong!" and "Why don't you pluck your eyebrows?".

As a child, he witnessed a man being killed.
He went to an all-boy's school.
When J-Rock star Gackt found out that Ueda was a huge fan of him, he gave him his special Gackt necklace. Ueda wears it often.
He joined the Johnny's because he admired Tsubasa Imai so much.
He is a sensitive person, and is easily hurt by what others say.
Band-mate Kamenashi befriended him when they formed KAT-TUN and always looks out for him.
Ryo Nishikido from NEWS/Kanjani8 is sometimes cruel to Ueda. After Kamenashi asked Ryo not to question Ueda about his ambitions, telling him that Ueda gets upset that he isn't sure about it, Ryo publicly questioned him again. Then, early this year, Ryo announced that he hates Ueda most of all the Johnny's.
Ueda has written many songs, often under pen-names.
He learned to play the piano as a child, but now prefers the guitar.
He speaks/is learning both English and French (the same as his idol, Gackt).

Koki is known as merely "the rapper". But behind his cool, sometimes scary act, Koki has a big adorable personality. While the other members concentrate so hard on acting mature and serious, Koki keeps KAT-TUN light-hearted. He puts on a big show of craziness to make people smile, making faces and doing silly actions on stage.

Off-camera he is a warm and gentle person (this is agreed by the other members of KAT-TUN), who loves animals with such a passion that he wants to someday live surrounded by them. He wants a big family, because he loves children, and wants a wife he can spoil rotten. One of his hobbies is actually reading wildlife books!

Koki loves the US and speaks quite a lot of English. Any English you hear in his raps is always written by him, and with interesting phrases like "the die is cast", he's pretty impressive. He loves to write lyrics, though people often ignore his intelligent and unique lyrics because he raps them.

Nakamaru is his best friend, although before KAT-TUN were formed they barely ever spoke. The two of them seem to share a kind of private friendship that isn't easily noticed by outsiders, since both of the boys are private types of people. But off-camera Koki is an affectionate person, and Nakamaru recieves most of his affections.

Koki also has an odd kind of obsession with Jin. In the 2003 rap "SIX GROOVE", he wrote about Jin: "He has a dirty body and a sexy voice...". And when Jin dressed up as a nurse for the KAT-TUN Clinic sketch, Koki wrote a poem saying "your nurse uniform made my heart 'hira-hira'." He thinks Jin makes a very sexy woman, and was also quoted as saying that if he had to choose a member of KAT-TUN to be his lover, it would be Jin. ;-_-

That doesn't mean Koki is gay, though. A while ago he was dating a sexy female model, even though it was against the company rules. When they ended up breaking up, his reason was: "It was based on lust and not love." Although Koki likes sexy women , he is a great believer in true love and wants to marry the right woman someday. She has to be a big lover of kids and animals to fit in with his dream, and he has an appealing fate in store for the lucky girl: "I'll go anywhere for her, do anything for her, whatever she wants. If she said she wanted something from a place miles away, I'd get on a train right away and go get it for her."

Taguchi Junnosuke

FACTS ABOUT JUNNO:
While KAT-TUN were performing in the theatre production "Dream Boy", Junno sustained a serious back injury in rehearsals. He was in hospital for months and got very lonely. During his stay in hospital he became more humble and less confident in himself. Because the other KAT-TUN members didn't visit him much, he thought no one liked him. But then they came and brought gifts, and soon Junno was recovering well. He managed to overcome his back injury and return to dancing and acrobatics.
He didn't use to like Kame, and would complain about him behind his back.
He thinks that living together before marraige is the wrong thing to do, and that couples should show commitment.
He admires Koichi Domoto from the KinKi Kids.

FACTS ABOUT JIN:
His real name is Akanishi Hitoshi, but he changed it when he became famous because he thought that "Hitoshi" was too common.
He has a little brother Akanishi Reio (17yrs) in a band called "D-Boys".
When he was younger one of his family members pushed him overboard on a cruise, and he nearly drowned.
Some of his hobbies are: playing the guitar, writing songs, learning English, shopping and computer games.
He originally failed the Johnny's Jrs audition, but on his way out he met Johnny who liked him and so let him join. (Edited because of translation error)
His type of girl is young, high-school age, plump but not fat, sexy but without acting it, with common sense and nice lips, kind, one who doesn't dress "scandalously".
He has a belly-button piercing and one or two ear piercings.

He is an exceptional basball player, even winning in friendly games against professional players (e.g. the Hanshin Tigers).

Kame (the nickname of Kazuya Kamenashi) comes across as the real leader of KAT-TUN. Koki thinks so, too. Kame is the unofficial spokesman, tends to sing more parts than the other members and, of course, his name comes first in the initials "KAT-TUN". What might surprise you, then, is to know that he isn't a very confident person.

When he was talking to Jin about the drama they were about to film (Gokusen 2), both of them confessed that they were very nervous about working with the cast. Jin revealed that he was shy, and that he was worried that the young people wouldn't like him (thinking himself "MAX loud" to an irritating level). Then Kame replied that he was also shy. Jin didn't actually believe him, but Kame went on to explain that he always worries about how he comes across to other people. He also said that he's a solitary person, who finds it difficult to spend too much time with people.

Although Kame comes across on-screen as very confident and self-assured, he is actually a self-conscious person. When he gets nervous he tends to lick his lips - and he does this quite a lot. Ryo Nishikido mistook this habit for Kame trying to be sexy, but Kame told him that he can't help doing it when he's really nervous. He is also a nervous speaker (surprisingly), and spends a lot of time practicing his speech in private. He said that he always forgets to slow down when he speaks, and so he muddles up words. Therefore he practices saying "ka ki ku ke ko, ma mi mu me mo...", etc quickly to train himself not to muddle the letters up.

Kame is very close to his family. His dad always took him to watch baseball games and play together since he was little, so now Kame loves baseball more than anything. His older brother, who is married with a little daughter, let's Kame babysit his child sometimes. Kame loves his niece, and says he is becoming more and more skilful at calming her down when she cries, with gentle kisses. With his mother, Kame relies on her for a lot of things. She wakes him up in the morning, massages him when he is tired from work, and cooks him wonderful meals. Kame, in turn, helps her with the housework and goes shopping for her sometimes. With his little brother, Kame plays baseball with him and affectionately calls him a "little punk" because his throw is better than his own.

One thing that is especially admirable about Kame is his determined spirit. He will try and try again until he gets things right. He is very hardworking and faces his fears head-on. Though he is terrified of heights, he persevered and conquered his fear while performing in Dream Boy and Summary (he had to bungee jump and everything!). Though he is quite shy, he throws himself into groups and is cheerful and friendly. Though he is intimidated by women, he insists that he would not hesitate to grab his girlfriend's hand if she was too shy to hold his. He wants a girl as optimistic and strong-willed as he is, with a pure spirit and a clever mind.

"Real Face" debuted with 754 234 copies, and


"Real Face Film" debuted with 374 202 copies.





With these releases, KAT-TUN topped all three charts, only the second artist to do so in the history of the Oricon Charts (the first artist to do so was Ayumi Hamasaki). They hold the records for the highest single debut sales as well as the record for highest DVD debut sales. Their single "Real Face" topped the Oricon charts for 3 weeks, making them the first artist in the millennium to do so. Their single sold over one million copies in nine weeks.

History of Kat-tun

History:

KAT-TUN is a unit of Johnny's Jr., a large group of boys which make up the Junior branch of the Johnny & Associates entertainment company. They made their professional debut with their single "Real Face", released in March 2006. They previously released a concert DVD which features approximately 10-15 of their songs.Before joining KAT-TUN, each member belonged to different Junior units.

In 2001, KinKi Kids member Koichi Domoto personally picked 6 Johnny's Jr. members to be his back dancers in the NHK music program, Pop Jam. He chose Kamenashi, Akanishi, Taguchi, Tanaka, Ueda and Nakamaru to be his back dancers and gave them the unit name KAT-TUN.Initially, KAT-TUN was only meant to be a dancing unit to support Koichi Domoto. However, KAT-TUN gained a great deal of attention so the formation was kept and KAT-TUN remains a solid unit.

The group's name is an acronym formed by the members' surname initials.Like most of Johnny's other groups, KAT-TUN not only sings and dances, but the members also act and star in commercials. They are one of the most popular talent idol groups in Japan at the moment, and have released a debut CD, setting records in album sales.
